65 minutes.
The movie's really coming along now. I'm 65 minutes into the rough cut and things are looking good. It's a bit overwhelming to look back and see over an hour of the movie now. I'm trying my best to have a complete, presentable rough cut in time to submit to the Sundance Film Festival. Their deadline is September 30th, so it's going to be tight but I think I can do it.

By the way, this is a picture of Sara (Liz Aeby) complaining about her useless boyfriend.

I love Pilates!
I'm editing the Pilates date scene now. It's taking a while, because the scene was improvised and there's a lot of footage and no one correct way to put it together. Also, Molly did such a great job that I'm trying to make the most of all the crazy shit she was saying. Originally, I was planning a nice, awkward montage of an uncomfortable exercise date, but now it's looking more like an angry Russian dominatrix is abusing our romantic leads. I think it's a lot better this way, really.

twenty five.
I'm now twenty five minutes into the rough cut. Things are getting exciting now. For those of you keeping score, I've just finished the art class scenes. Doesn't Kate look nice? You'd never know she's enrolled in Remedial Stick Figure Drawing 101.

20 minutes
I got a lot done last night, and I'm now happy to say that I'm 20 minutes into the rough cut. I'm a few scenes past the scene in the photo above. There's finally enough there to get a feel for the pace of the movie, and I can see the story building and gaining momentum. Pretty awesome, really. Everything is fitting together nicely. I can't wait to get home and keep going. I've waited a long time to see this movie.

Logging and capturing is complete!
I have finally finished logging and capturing all of the footage for the movie. Last night, I officially began the rough cut. I'm about 9 1/2 minutes in so far. Finally, I should have some new stuff to show you soon!

Who needs a donut?
Lots of good progress this weekend. I edited a scene (there's a still from it above) and got a lot of logging and capturing done. I've captured a whole lot of thoughtful Steadicam footage of Carl walking, and half of the camping scenes we shot in Malibu Canyon.
